Focus and Scope

Journal Profile & Editorial Coverage

Lensa: Jurnal Kependidikan Fisika (J-LKF) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Physics Education Study Program, Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika (UNDIKMA), Indonesia. Published twice a year, in June and December, the journal disseminates original research and critical scholarship that advance knowledge and practice in physics education and physics.

Physics Education Physics Physics-Relevant Interdisciplinary Studies

Journal Objectives

J-LKF provides an academic forum for researchers, educators, and practitioners to exchange rigorously developed findings, theoretical perspectives, and methodological advances. The journal aims to strengthen the evidence base for physics teaching and learning, contribute to the development and application of physical science, and encourage scholarly dialogue across disciplines where physics or physics education is central to the research question and its contribution.

Scope of Publication

J-LKF welcomes empirical, theoretical, experimental, computational, and applied research, as well as rigorous literature reviews, within the following principal areas.

1. Physics Education

Research on the teaching, learning, assessment, and educational development of physics, including:

  • Physics conceptual understanding, conceptual change, scientific reasoning, and problem solving.
  • Inquiry-based, experimental, laboratory, and model-based physics instruction.
  • Physics curricula, instructional resources, and discipline-specific pedagogical approaches.
  • Digital technologies, simulations, visualizations, and artificial intelligence in physics teaching and learning.
  • Assessment, evaluation, and development or validation of instruments for physics learning.
  • Physics teacher education, professional development, and learning across educational levels.

2. Physics and Applied Physics

Research advancing physical concepts, methods, models, measurements, and applications, including:

  • Mechanics, dynamics, wave phenomena, and acoustics.
  • Thermal physics, thermodynamics, and energy-related physical processes.
  • Electricity, magnetism, electronics, and related physical systems.
  • Optics, photonics, and electromagnetic phenomena.
  • Materials physics, condensed-matter phenomena, and physics-based device studies.
  • Theoretical, computational, experimental, and instrumentation-based investigations in physics.
  • Other areas of fundamental or applied physics with a clearly articulated scientific contribution.

Interdisciplinary Research

Interdisciplinary studies in the natural sciences, engineering, technology, environmental studies, or STEM education are considered when they make a clear and substantive contribution to physics or physics education. Relevant submissions must position a physical concept, phenomenon, model, method, measurement, or physics-specific learning outcome at the center of their research and explain its contribution to the field.

Editorial Scope and Submission Suitability

Manuscripts should state their relationship to physics or physics education explicitly in the research problem, objectives, methods, findings, and implications. Studies addressing general education, science education, engineering, or other disciplines without a direct and substantial connection to physics or physics education fall outside the journal's scope. A passing reference to physics or the use of physics-related terminology alone does not establish such a connection.

Scope assessment

The editorial team may decline submissions that do not fit the journal's stated aims and scope before external peer review. Scope alignment is distinct from, and does not replace, assessment of originality, research quality, reporting clarity, and publication ethics.

Intended Readership

The journal serves scholars and practitioners in physics education, physics, and closely related fields, including university researchers, school teachers, teacher educators, postgraduate students, and professionals whose work has demonstrable relevance to the journal's scope.
