Author Guidelines

MANDEKA — Mandalika Journal of Economics, Management, and Accounting

Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika (UNDIKMA)  • 

MANDEKA (Mandalika Journal of Economics, Management, and Accounting) is a scientific journal published by Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika (UNDIKMA) that disseminates research articles and scholarly studies in the fields of Economics, Management, and Accounting. Before submitting a manuscript, authors must read and comply with all guidelines below. Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines will be returned to the author(s) for correction before entering the review process.

1. General Provisions

  1. The manuscript is the author’s original work, has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration (under review) by any other journal or medium.
  2. The manuscript is written in standard and consistent English throughout (either American or British usage, but not a mixture of both).
  3. The manuscript must be free of plagiarism. The maximum similarity index is [e.g., 20%], as verified by a Turnitin/iThenticate report.
  4. Authors must include a statement of originality upon submission.
  5. Manuscripts are submitted online through the MANDEKA Open Journal Systems (OJS). Authors are required to register an account first.
  6. Accepted manuscript types: empirical research articles and conceptual studies / literature reviews.

2. Focus and Scope

MANDEKA accepts manuscripts within, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Economics: development economics, monetary economics, Islamic economics, public economics, MSMEs, and digital economy.
  • Management: marketing management, human resource management, financial management, strategic management, entrepreneurship, and organizational behavior.
  • Accounting: financial accounting, management accounting, public sector accounting, taxation, auditing, and Islamic accounting.

3. Manuscript Format and Layout

  1. The manuscript is typed on A4 paper, single column.
  2. Margins: top and left 3 cm; bottom and right 2.5 cm.
  3. Font Times New Roman, 12 pt, line spacing 1.15, justified alignment.
  4. Manuscript length [e.g., 10–20 pages], including tables, figures, and references.
  5. Foreign / non-English terms are written in italics.
  6. Manuscripts are submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).

4. Manuscript Structure

Research articles are organized in the following order:

4.1 Title

Concise, dense, and informative (maximum [e.g., 15 words]), reflecting the content of the manuscript and avoiding abbreviations and formulae.

4.2 Author Identity

State the full name (without academic titles), institutional affiliation, and an active e-mail address for each author. The corresponding author is clearly indicated.

4.3 Abstract and Keywords

The abstract is written in English, 150–200 words in a single paragraph, covering the purpose, method, principal results, and conclusion. The abstract must not contain citations. Provide 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons (;).

4.4 Introduction

Contains the background, phenomenon/problem, research gap, a brief review of prior studies, novelty, and research objectives. The theoretical review and hypothesis development may be integrated into this section.

4.5 Research Method

Describes the type and approach of the research, population and sample, data collection techniques, operational definitions of variables, and data analysis techniques concisely and in a replicable manner.

4.6 Results and Discussion

Presents the research results systematically and discusses them with theoretical support and comparison to prior studies. Tables and figures are used sparingly and referred to in the narrative.

4.7 Conclusion

Answers the research objectives concisely (not a repetition of the results), accompanied by implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research. Written in paragraph form, not in points.

4.8 Acknowledgements (optional)

Addressed to funding bodies or those who contributed to the research.

4.9 References

Contains all sources cited in the manuscript (and vice versa). A minimum of [e.g., 15] references is recommended, predominantly journal articles published within the last 10 years. References must be managed using a reference manager application (Mendeley/Zotero) in APA 7th edition style.

5. Tables and Figures

  1. Tables and figures are sequentially numbered with clear captions. Table captions are placed above the table; figure captions are placed below the figure.
  2. Every table/figure must be referred to in the text and have its source stated.
  3. The article is printed in black and white; ensure tables/figures remain legible without color.

6. Citations and Reference List (APA 7)

In-text citations use the (Author, Year) system, e.g., (Harsasi, 2023) or Harsasi (2023). For direct quotations, include the page number: (Harsasi, 2023, p. 12). Reference list formats:

Journal article:

Last name, A. A., & Last name, B. B. (Year). Title of the article: Subtitle if any. Name of Journal, Volume(Issue), pages. https://doi.org/xxxxx

Book:

Last name, A. A. (Year). Title of the book (edition). Publisher.

Chapter in an edited book:

Last name, A. A. (Year). Title of the chapter. In E. E. Editor (Ed.), Title of the book (pp. xx–xx). Publisher.

Online source:

Last name, A. A. (Year, Day Month). Title of the document. Name of Website. https://www.example.com/...

7. Review Process

All manuscripts are evaluated through a double-blind peer review mechanism. The final decision on acceptance rests with the Editorial Board based on the reviewers’ recommendations. Authors must revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ comments within the stipulated deadline.

8. Copyright and Licensing

Copyright of the article remains with the author(s). By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) agree that the published article is licensed under [e.g., Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0)], allowing it to be shared and adapted with proper attribution to the author(s).

9. Publication Fee

MANDEKA is currently free of charge; there is no submission fee or article processing charge (APC).

10. Submission Checklist

Before submitting, authors should ensure the following:

  • ☐  The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review by another journal.
  • ☐  The file is in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).
  • ☐  The manuscript follows the MANDEKA template and author guidelines.
  • ☐  Citations and references use APA 7th edition (Mendeley/Zotero).
  • ☐  The similarity check result meets the required threshold.
  • ☐  Author names and affiliations are omitted from the main manuscript (for blind review).
