Development of Wordwall-Assisted Formative Assessment Using Bengkayanag’s Culture for Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures

Abstract

Formative assessment serves to provide feedback during the learning process to help students understand the material. This study aims to develop a formative assessment based on the local culture of the Bengkayang community, utilizing Wordwall, on the topics of elements, compounds, and mixtures for eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Bengkayang, as well as to determine the validity and user response to the developed product. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, limited to the development stage; therefore, the product’s effectiveness on student learning outcomes has not yet been tested. Data were collected through validation questionnaires for subject matter experts and media experts, as well as teacher and student response questionnaires, and were then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the validation by subject matter experts and media experts each achieved a 100% validity rate, categorized as “highly valid.” Teacher responses scored 89.17%, and student responses scored 87.29%, both categorized as “Very Interesting.” A preliminary validity test of 15 test items showed that 7 items were deemed valid. These results indicate that the product achieved very high expert validity and received positive feedback from users; however, the product’s effectiveness on learning outcomes still needs to be tested through further research.
