This community service program aims to strengthen the capacity of Kakor Jaya Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in Kakor Village, West Manggarai Regency, Indonesia, to produce animal feed pellets using locally available raw materials as a strategy to reduce feed costs and strengthen community-based layer poultry enterprises. The program employed an education and training approach involving interactive lectures and hands-on pellet production activities. A one-group pretest–posttest design was adopted, involving 25 participants. Data were collected using written tests and analyzed descriptively and through the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge, with the mean pre-test score increasing from 5% to 92% on the post-test (p < 0.05). Pellets formulated from ten locally available ingredients had an estimated crude protein content of 16.2% and metabolizable energy of 2,661 kcal/kg, meeting the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements for layer poultry feed. The production cost (cost of goods manufactured) was IDR 6,581/kg, representing a 30.7% reduction compared with the price of commercial feed in the local market (IDR 9,500/kg). The demonstration-based participatory training approach effectively enhanced the partners' technical competencies and created opportunities for BUMDes to establish an independent feed production business unit. This initiative is expected to contribute to sustained reductions in poultry farmers' feed costs and strengthen the economic sustainability of community-based layer poultry enterprises.
