Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance teachers’ knowledge and skills in creating digital teaching materials, including infographics and flipbook e-modules. The implementation method for this community service program involved training and mentoring for 23 teachers at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru. The training was conducted over a two-hour session and focused on the use of Canva for designing digital learning materials and Heyzine Flipbook for converting digital documents into interactive flipbooks. The instruments used were a questionnaire on the percentage of technology use in learning and another on teachers’ ability to use applications to create digital teaching materials; both were analyzed descriptively. The results of this community service project indicate an increase in teachers’ understanding of the role of technology in learning and in their ability to produce digital learning resources. Of the 23 teachers who participated in the training, 14 completed both the pre-test and post-test, and the results were analyzed based on these 14 respondents. Before the training, the majority of respondents demonstrated a poor level of understanding (71.42%), followed by a fair level (14.28%), a very good level (7.14%), and a very poor level (7.14%). After the training, 64.28% of respondents demonstrated a very good level of understanding, 28.57% demonstrated a good level, and 7.14% demonstrated a fair level. No respondents were classified in the poor or very poor categories after the training. These findings suggest an improvement in teachers’ understanding of digital learning applications following the training. In practical terms, the skills acquired in using Canva to design digital learning materials and Heyzine Flipbook to create interactive digital resources can support teachers in developing engaging learning materials independently. To sustain these practices at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru, teachers can integrate these applications into regular classroom activities, update and reuse digital materials, and share their resources and experiences with colleagues. Continued institutional support and collaboration among teachers may further encourage the consistent integration of digital learning resources into teaching practices.
