Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether a combination of Kirinyuh leaf (Chromolaena odorata L.) and turmeric rhizome extracts affects incision wound length in mice based on macroscopic evaluation. This experimental study employed a randomized post-test-only control group design within a completely randomized design (CRD). A total of 25 male mice were divided into five treatment groups. Combination ointments containing Kirinyuh leaf and turmeric rhizome extracts at a 3:1 ratio were prepared at concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. An incision measuring 1 mm in length was created on the dorsal region of each mouse. The wounds were treated topically twice daily with the extract ointment, and macroscopic observations were performed daily from day 0 to day 14. The results showed no significant differences among the groups on day 7. By day 14, most groups had achieved wound closure. The P2 group treated with the 2.5% combination ointment exhibited the lowest mean wound length (0.426 ± 0.073 mm), whereas the negative control group showed the highest mean wound length (1.296 ± 0.804 mm). These findings indicate that the combination of Kirinyuh leaf (Chromolaena odorata L.) and turmeric rhizome extracts may contribute to the healing of incision wounds in mice.
